Embers

Your eyes seem
to wonder if charred
memories will remain to
be alive, or will they
come to rest
like dying embers.

I came
to watch each
coming and going of
never-ending plays
with splendid grandeur that
seem to mock the existence of
your half- conscious soul.
Oblivious and longing not for
the final bow, even if droplets
would cease to gush out
from your wound that
would never heal.

I heard your
ardent wish for
eternal strokes to
capture the sketch of divine
fragments you long to keep.
Suddenly you asked
the heavens if it would
be a sin to wish not- for
the locks to seal the part of
a whole that remained half-finished-
without a promise of
continuity’s bliss.

I feel you
breathing still-
for a chance to gather
the embers before the end
will embark to a new beginning.
And with one lingering look, you
finally took each
careful step away-
while you carry
the tears unshed, and
the epitaph
slowly changes.

Nicely penned Jane, it seems you captured well an ending...
It could be an ending of anything; love, life, dreams
but it goes out, the embers not fanned back into a flame...

What I see, I should not say, except the struggle belongs to them, those who are the functionality of this brilliant piece.

I can only say, may the outcome be that which is desired by the true heart, and serenity bring peace, finally.

And the fight is neverending ...or never giving in....the minds will is amazing in itself...is it not...watching a play and being in it are totally different...except some aren't acting....lol...a wonderful read full of images and thougts galore...

Hi John, thank you. :-) Yes indeed. :-) The last part has been more of trying to understand the why and how and any possibilities that may come out from something challenging that we may encounter in this life..:-)
